On the website I read that if you hold a permanent residence permit you cant stay outside germany for more than 6 months. I am an international student and since lectures are being held online I have stayed 2 months in my home country. My question would be Is there any restriction that I should stay in Germany for the same amount of time I was abroad before being able to travel somewhere again or am I able to travel whenever? So in this case do I have to stay for at least 2 months in Germany before being able to travel abroad again?
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,

As a general rule, a person cannot stay outside Germany for more than six months. If he/she wants to save a visa, he/she must come back before the six months expiration.
So, you can travel anytime, anywhere outside Germany, but you can stay outside once only for six months (or you can split this duration into two times three months or four times 1.5 months.)
As you mentioned, you are a student, and I think you have a temporary residence permit. So, this rule also applies to you. You can stay 6 months in your home country and then 6 months in Germany. In this way, you will not face any trouble.
In case you face any travel restriction and unable to fly back in 6 months duration, immediately contact Ausländerbehörde and ask for Fiktionsbescheinigung. With this Fiktionsbescheinigung, you will be able to travel after travel restrictions. I hope my answer will help you.

You cannot live outside Germany for more than 6 months as a student.
